David Cameron has joined the media storm around Wayne Rooney's private and professional life.
The England striker scored the first goal in England's 3-1 win over Switzerland in Basle as part of the Euro 2012 qualifiers, following newspaper allegations over the weekend that suggested he had cheated on his wife Coleen while she was pregnant with their son Kai.
While England manager Fabio Capello and Rooney's teammates praised the striker's performance on the pitch, the Prime Minister gently poked fun at the whole situation at an awards ceremony in Central London.
At the GQ Men of the Year Awards 2010, David Cameron said: "I can bring you the real news, which is that Wayne Rooney has scored. And this time it was on the pitch, in the opponents goal."
The girl that made the allegations, Jeni Thompson, has given no further comment, while Wayne Rooney was bundled out of the England match without talking to the press.
Meanwhile Wayne's wife Coleen has been spotted covering her wedding ring finger with a scarf.
