Slim chance of Chinese flood survivors

Rescue teams in China's Gansu province continued to dig through mud and rocks despite there being little hope of finding any survivors.

Only one person has been pulled from the mud alive since Sunday, after the river burst, swamping entire mountain villages.

Shen Si, an Ethnic Tibetan resident, watched as troops laboured to excavate the area where most of her family lies buried.

She said: "My Mother and father... and my younger brother, all of three of them are buried here in our house still."

There is little hope here for survivors, but residents want to recover bodies of their loved ones and send them off properly.

The government said that 1042 people were missing.
