Before Rod Scribner went on to Bob Clampett's unit, he worked for Tex Avery's. There is a lot more ground to the characters when he's under the direction of Avery than in Clampett's films, making them more believeable. The exaggeration is still prominent, but it's nowhere near the palsy patient look a lot of Scribner's characters have in some of Clampett's films if you see this clip from TORTOISE BEATS HARE (1941).
