Heavy rains and flooding have brought heavy losses to China’s Jilin Province... affecting more than four million people. Damage losses of more than a billion U.S. dollars have been reported so far.

Unusually heavy rain and flooding across large swathes of northeast and northwest China have caused extensive damage in Lonji County in Jilin Province.

Floods have also taken a toll on regional utilities—water supplies have been cut to two separate locations of Jilin Province, affecting almost 500-thousand residents.

Around 80,000 people have been without water for six days.

Flooding in Jilin Province has killed 122 people and affected more than four million. It also forced the evacuation of some 590-thousand people and caused an estimated loss of up to 1.35 billion U.S. dollars.

In the northwestern Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region, torrential rain and flooding cut access to major roads and bridges, stranding hundreds of people.

An estimated 1,000 people have been killed so far this year in floods and landslides triggered by the heavy rain battering many regions in China.
