NOTE: Ernst "Teddy" STAUFFER (b. 1909 in Murten, Switzerland – d. 1991 in Acapulco) Swiss bandleader. As teenager he played violin and saxophone. In1928 he went to Germany where his amateur ensamble got engagement in Gleiwitz (now: Gliwice in Poland). After seasons on cruise ships in 1936 he got engagement to a renowned Delphi Palace in Berlin. His Original-Teddies performed also in St. Moritz and London. In 1939 they played at the opening of the National Exhibition in Switzerland, replacing the Lunceford Orch. which withdrew because of the impending war. When war broke out; all the German members of the Teddies had to leave Switzerland and orchestra disbanded. In 1941 after engagement on an Atlantic liner, Stauffer remained in the US but due to problems with his visa he went to Acapulco, where he worked as manager of hotels (including the "Hyatt").
