Painter Edward Hopper, whose hugely influential realism made him an icon of 20th-American art, had strong roots in Europe, as a new retrospective in Lausanne shows. Part of the exhibit focuses on Hopper's Paris years, and also explores the elaborate sketches preparing his landmark paintings, as well as showing key samples of his prolific erotic work.
