The first hosepipe ban in the North West for 14 years will come into force at 6am Friday 9th July 2010. The ban applies to all the company’s water supply customers, with the exception of customers in Carlisle, Allerdale, Copeland and the north Eden Valley, where supplies are at reasonable levels.
Even though there has been some very welcome rain in the north of the region over the weekend, the temporary restrictions are still needed as the region will need some significant rainfall before the position starts to turn around.
United Utilities customers can find out if their area is affected and can request a free water saver’s pack, which includes a save-a-flush device to cut water use by a litre every time you flush the toilet, by visiting the United Utilities website - www.unitedutilities.com
