Kano may be one of the UK's most successful artists, but he says he is not that bothered about being in fashion.
The MC believes he has blazed a trail on the music scene but admits it has not always been easy.
He said: "Sometimes I feel like I've been a little bit ahead of the scene where I come from. I was experimenting with different sounds. I was doing tracks like Typical Me with guitars before everyone tried to jump on this indie thing - you know, MCs and indie bands."
As well as his solo material, Kano is known for his collaborations, so who would he most like to work with?
"I don't know. I've got so many favourite rappers but for me, when it comes to collaborating, I always like to collaborate with someone who can do something different to what I do and can bring something different to the table.
"So although a song with Jay-Z would be great, I'd probably like to work with Outkast," the 25-year-old said.
And as for his thoughts on reality TV bands: "JLS I've never worked with but, you know, it's cool. I love to see people doing well."
