As fear and panic grips the residents of 4000 odd homes at Vatsala Tai nagar, local activists, fathers and uncles take to the lanes post midnight in the hope of finding the accused in the matter of the rape and mutilation of a nine year old girl.
When this paper met the motley group of forty odd men armed with torches and sticks past midnight, they had already been patrolling the lanes of the slum where Nusrat Sheikh (9)’s body was found on Saturday.
“We just want to find this killer,” said local corporator Gautam Sable. “Every person is scared. We don’t let our children out of our sight and everyone is afraid that their child might be next.”
