Massive floods triggered by days of torrential rains have battered southern China over the past several days. So far 42 people have been killed, while 36 others remain missing.
In Guangdong Province, floods affected 240,000 people and forced over 22,000 others to evacuate on Wednesday. A record-breaking 19 inches of rainfall was measured in the area.
Many homes are underwater in Fujian Province.
The heavy rain disrupted rail and road services, and damaged power lines across the region.
More rain is in the forecast for the region, including the provinces of Guangdong, Guizhou, Guangxi, Jiangxi, Fujian, Hunan and Zhejiang.
Floods have hit 22 provinces in China since May this year, killing 197 people, affecting more than 30 million people and causing millions of dollars of economic losses.
