Fox's first band, in 1920, was booked into the Club Royale, in Culver City (USA). While working for Fox Studios (no relation), he accepted a job at London's Café de Paris in1930. In 1931, Fox opened at the new Monseigneur Restaurant. In October of 1932, Fox and the Monseigneur management parted company. All of the musicians, except Syd Buckman, stayed at the restaurant with Lew Stone as leader. Fox formed a new band, successfully playing at London's Café Anglais. Subsequently he performed at the Kit-Cat Club and again at the Café de Paris. He disbanded the group in 1938, went to Australia to front Jay Whidden's band, then to the US, and finally back to the UK. After the war, the big band era was over though, and began to work as booking agent. This outstanding recording was made in 1934, with Denny Dennis on vocal.
