Fierce Weather on Australia's Southeast Coast

2010-06-01 78

Strong winds and stormy seas battered parts of the Australian east coast today, cutting power to about 3,000 homes in southern New South Wales.

Repair crews responded quickly to assist homes that were damaged by fallen trees and flying debris.

While the bad weather ravaged the state, and confounded those trying to get to work, some adventurers took the opportunity to make the most of it, riding their surfboards at Botany Bay.

There were swells of up to 25 feet offshore.
