Occupational Therapists (OT) and Physiotherapists (PT) work collaboratively to maintain, restore and improve movement and daily functioning in clients across the lifespan. Under the guidance of an OT and/or PT, Occupational Therapist Assistants and Physiotherapist Assistants (OTA/PTA) are expected to deliver safe and competent care to clients experiencing limitations resulting from a range of conditions. The OTA/PTA enables clients to meet their expected outcomes by effectively utilizing a variety of therapeutic techniques and tools. This program ensures students develop the knowledge, skills and practical experiences necessary to work with a variety of client groups. Using a hands-on learning approach, students will demonstrate competencies in effective communication, critical thinking, and active problem-solving skills, making them a valuable member of the rehabilitation team.
