Graham Norton is emerging as the favourite to take over from Jonathan Ross when he leaves Radio 2.
The speculation comes after the Irish presenter secured a guest spot covering for Chris Evans on the station while he is away. He previously filled in for Steve Wright.
Other clues point to the Over The Rainbow host. Radio 2's Sarah Kennedy told her listeners: "I've just learned Graham Norton is joining us full-time on Radio 2. That'll be nice."
But a BBC spokesperson said: "Radio 2 is considering its options regarding the new host."
Other names in the frame are Liza Tarbuck, Zoe Ball and Dermot O'Leary.
Comic and actor Graham, 47, is one of the BBC's most high profile hosts. He currently has his own chat show, fronts all of the channel's Eurovision coverage and presents Andrew Lloyd Webber's talent searches to find a musical star.
Jonathan Ross announced that he would not be renewing his contract with the BBC in January. Since then it has been announced that Claudia Winkleman will replace him on Film 2010.
