A young A&E doctor has become the first British woman to walk to the North Pole unsupported.
Amelia Russell, 27, and her boyfriend Dan Darley, 34, walked 500 miles in 58 days from Resolute Bay in Canada to raise money for veteran charity Help for Heroes.
The couple dragged food and equipment on sledges weighing over 650lb in temperatures of around -40C.
Miss Russell dislocated her shoulder twice during the journey but was able to reset it herself. The second incident happened only last week when she fell through the ice.
After completing the challenge, Dan and Amelia flew by helicopter to the island of Swalbard, north of Norway, where their families were waiting to be reunited with them.
