They are all involved in the battle against climate change. But above all they are developing “360°”, all-round solutions, integrating the various dimensions of sustainable development. One of these initiatives is the Local Kyoto Plan of Watermael-Boitsfort, nominated for the 2008 “Future Generations’ Grand Prix”. By means of the plan, the municipality has already been able to cut the energy consumption of council buildings (council offices, schools, swimming pool, etc.) by 22%, without any loss of comfort to users. By taking this step, Watermael-Boitsfort has freed up budgetary resources for other community projects.
