2010-04-20 45

As long-term care facilities expand to serve the growing senior population and hospitals change their focus, there is a need for qualified food service managers who can solve problems, make decisions and adapt to change. Students in the Food and Nutrition Management program combine food service and nutrition knowledge with business and human relations skills to prepare for challenging careers in the food service industry.

This program incorporates classroom lectures, activities, field trips and guest speakers. In Centennial's Residence and Conference Centre, you will learn the practical aspects of quantity food preparation and service. The final seven weeks provide supervised work experience in a health care facility.

Approximate cost for textbooks and supplies is $500 per semester. At the start of the program, there is also a one-time cost of $150 for lab coats, kitchen knives and a food thermometer.
