Heckler confronts Brown on schools

A heckler has confronted Gordon Brown over Labour's record on school admissions.

The man, who gave his name as Ben Butterworth, repeatedly shouted questions at the Prime Minister as he left an event in Centre Point in central London.

Mr Butterworth shouted: "Can you tell us why my children can't get into the state schools of their choice in our area, Gordon."

Mr Brown got into a waiting car and drove away without replying.

Speaking to reporters after the Prime Minister had left, Mr Butterworth said: "We have got a problem at the moment in that our eldest son is just about to start school and we can't get him into one of the good schools in our area in south London.

"He will be sent to the school in our area which has actually really quite poor attainment in all areas: English, maths, science. That's worrying for us because our boy is really quite bright, and obviously we want the best for him."
