Hamsar Hayat is the son of Hayat Nizami Qawaal, and the nephew of the world famous Meraj Ahmed Nizami, whose family have been performing Qawaali at the Teh Dargah (tomb) of the Chishti (Saint) Nizamuddin Auliaa in Delhi for many generations. Hamsar, 37, received his training in Qawaali music from his father, whom he sang with since he was a child, and learned the nuances of Persian, Urdu and Hindi lyrics from his uncle.
See, Hear, Believe!
I heard them for the first time 6 years ago at a Medical Social Event hosted by Rotunda & promised them publicly that they will sing for me every year till either of us is alive! We have kept our pact intact & Hamsar Hayat Saheb has been performing for us ever since. This is a private recording of their concert at the ITC Grand Central, Parel, Mumbai hosted in my Presidential Year Annual Conference of the MOGS in February 2010.
God Bless Hindustan, Hindustani Music & Hamsar Hayat for keeping our culture alive!
