Footage has emerged of the moment two Red Arrows collided during a training flight in Crete.

The grainy images recorded on a mobile phone show one plane veering towards the ground, followed by a huge explosion.

One pilot suffered a dislocated shoulder after ejecting from his aircraft. The second pilot landed safely and was not hurt.

The Ministry of Defence has launched an investigation into the collision which took place on Tuesday, but said this year's training season will continue.

With their trademark red, white and blue vapour trails, the Red Arrows are a familiar sight at British ceremonial occasions and international air displays. They often host airshows in Greece.
