Militant violence continues in Indian Kashmir today. An Indian army officer and a soldier were killed in a gunfight in the Chinkipora region on Tuesday.

Security forces got credible information that some militants, including a top commander of Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba, were hiding in the region.

According to local media reports, the militants were asked to surrender, but opened fire at security personnel.
