A contested case takes somewhere between 18 and 24 months. It generally depends on how soon after the person leaves the home compared to when they file. Someone who leaves the home and files immediately, that case would generally take between 18 and 24 months if it's contested. If a person leaves right at the one-year separation the case could probably be completed in about 6 to 8 months. Those are for contested cases. For uncontested cases generally once the time period is past the one-year or the 6-month separation, a divorce can take about six to eight weeks and then it will be completed.
