Cyclone Olga Remnants Causing Havoc in Australia

What’s left of tropical cyclone Olga is still causing havoc in northern Queensland. Heavy rains have blocked major roads and many towns are still in danger of flash flooding. High tides are also hitting popular holiday destinations alongside the Gold and Sunshine Coasts.

Many residents have to wade through floodwater to clean up the debris of broken boats and fishing gear.

[Susan Govermann, Local Resident]:
"We've been here for hours and we have suddenly realized that the poor men out there have been scratching around getting all the debris and they haven't had anything to eat and we just went to go home and the water is right across the road."

[Wayne Preedy, Emergency Management Queensland]:
"They're just so resilient the people down here."

Meanwhile the kids make the best of it.

Extremely high tides are expected to continue until Saturday.
