U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama was immortalized in wax at Madame Tussauds in New York. The statue of Mrs. Obama wears the stunning white gown, designed by Jason Wu, which she wore on inauguration night in 2009.

[Rosemary Desprado, Director of Marketing, Madame Tussauds of New York]:
"The Michelle Obama wax statue, this is the first day we are launching her, and she is wearing a gorgeous replica of the inaugural ball gown that was custom made at our studios in London. So today is the first day the general public gets an opportunity to see her and to interact and take photos, very exciting."

Children from an elementary school were among the first to see the statue after it was unveiled.

[Elizanel Martinez, Student]:
"It's great. I haven't seen nothing like it before. It looks like the real person because when you touch it, it looks, it feels like a person."

[Allan Quezada, Student]:
"They look kinda realistic. It kind of feels like the eyes follow you, and Michelle Obama's dress is kind of sparkly."

Michelle Obama's wax figure will stand beside her husband, Barack Obama, in a replica of the White House's Oval Office.

Mrs. Obama is the third First Lady to be honored with a wax figure inside Madame Tussauds.
