The second part of the battle involves a fight against Griever, who is the monster on Squall's ring, that you were able to give a name to earlier in the game. You should cast aura on your characters if you can and use GF attacks as well. From this point, random spells in your inventory will be blown away at certain points in the fight. Griever is not too much of a threat until he does Shockwave Pulsar. You know he's about to do it when the sky begins to turn red. After beating Griever, he will combine with Ultimecia. From this point, GFs will be blown away when you attempt to summon them, so just continue with aura and limit breaks. When Ultimecia/Griever has two helixes alongside it, and the battle scene starts to spin, it means it is about to use Great Attractor, while it is fairly damaging, but not too powerful, it is worth looking at!
