Def poetry jam slam is just urban hate speech
to me and because I’m white don’t mean it’s alright
for you to scream in my ear - you hear – what did I
ever do to you except be white? It’s all good –
You do what you want in your hood and I’ll be fine
in mine. There’s no animus here man, you ain’t my
enemy, and anybody can be racist!
I’m an artist like you telling it straight like I
See it. You dig? You got no basis for slingin’
slurs at me and lashing out at me - and sure
as shit you ain’t gonna be free by setting your
sites on me - so what say you start looking to your-
Self on your own streets my brother? because I ain’t
the one killin’ your kin and your blame game just ain’t
no way to win - it’s a dead end road and gonna
get you nowhere but famous, dead or in prison.
Look, I know about oppression, and anger and
demons of my own that just don’t care about the
color of our skin – we’re all human beings here -
I got my deep personal work to do, don’t you?!
