Another outstanding rendition by this hardly known orchestra. Surprisingly enough I found quite a few copies of sheet music featuring her portrait, which proves she enjoyed a certain popularity in her day. Yet I found no further information about this violinist and bandleader. More specifically this disc is credited "Florence Richardson & Her Orchestra" but she is also known to have led the "Florence Richardson and her National Broadcasting Orchestra. The vocal on this 1934 recording is by Jerry Lee. It might be interesting to make a surprising comparison between this rendition and an almost contemprary, yet totally different but equally exquisite approach originating from the other end of the world, "Moon" (Луна) by Alexander Varlamov & His Orchestra, which I posted several monthos ago.
