Urubamba is one of the most bucolic towns in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Northwest of Cusco, its the meeting point for the main roads through the Urubamba River valley from which it takes its name.

The valley is an agricultural breadbasket known for its harvests of the large kernel choclo corn that features in many Peruvian dishes. During the rainy season from September to March, it also produces world-class peaches and strawberries.

Urubamba is also a center for adventure tourism in the Sacred Valley, offering the ideal setting for: trekking, canoeing, mountain biking, and horseback riding.

The valley has a temperate climate throughout the year, and offers panoramic views of Inca terraces that climb high into the mountains. In the distance you can spot the snowy peaks of the Vilcanota range.
