Michael Steele on Face The Nation points out that Corzine and Paterson have about the same numbers, but Obama wants Paterson to withdraw from the race...

RNC Chairman Michael Steele accuses the White House of racism, regarding President Obama advising New York Gov. David Paterson not to seek reelection and withdraw as a candidate as he might "drag down the party".

"I found that to be stunning," he told Bob Schieffer on "Face The Nation," "that the White House would send word to one of only two black Governors in the country not to run for reelection. It just raised a curious point for me... I find it to be stunning, and also rather bold."

"You don't think he has asked him not to run because he's black," Schieffer asked.

Steele's concern was that there was "so few" black Governors. "It's just a curiosity for me that the White House would inject itself into that debate when I don't think it's appropriate nor necessary."
