This discussion with Gregg Cummings of TRG Direct discusses the requirements for setting up a self filing program for importer security filing. Since ISF is not considered Customs business, the importer is not required to use their own filer code. They do however need to file under a filer code. TRG Direct will let importers "borrow" their filer code if they are engaging in importer security filing only. This then, requires the importer to provide TRG Direct with a Power of Attorney. This goes back to risk management.
Other than the ISF power of attorney, TRG Direct just needs your payment information. There is NO start up fee and the per entry cost is either $3 or $5. ISF self filers can pay via credit card or ach.
