Skipping School
By Reid Baer

It is sinus weather today;
overcast skies are to blame, they
make me sleepy so I dose in
a kind way – getting up to eat
a little - then onto the couch
half awake and up again to
take the puppy out where it is
starting to rain - then flopping back
into bed, my lovely old bed,
where dreams take me away resting
uninvolved in anything of
purpose content with the mundane
with only a whisper of shame
that I could be doing something
more and more things just stay the same.
