There is a definite advantage to having a coated tablecloth versus a cotton tablecloth. With an untreated, cotton tablecloth it is likely that it will not last very long. With my coated French tablecloths from Provence, when someone spills wine or food onto my coated tablecloth I just laugh and wipe it off.
