USA: Obama nominates first Hispanic Supreme Court justice

IN THE PAPERS: US President Barack Obama nominated appeals court judge Sonia Sotomayor to be the first Hispanic Supreme Court justice. Sotomayor will replace retiring Justice David Souter. Her nomination now awaits Senate confirmation.
