President Trump’s border czar, Thomas Homan, warned New York Mayor Eric Adams to uphold his promise to grant federal immigration authorities access to Rikers Island. Homan stated that if Adams fails to comply, he will pressure him to follow through on their agreement. Adams vowed to sign an executive order granting federal authorities access to Rikers Island. Acting Manhattan U.S. Attorney Danielle Sassoon resigned after alleging that Mayor Eric Adams’ lawyers pressured DOJ officials to drop his bribery case in exchange for allowing Trump administration immigration enforcement in New York City.
