The Cabinet has approved Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL)’s proposal to build a double track instead of a single dual-gauge track for the 25km stretch of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) from Jalan Kastam Station in Port Klang to Northport and Westport.
Speaking at a press conference after attending the Port Klang Authority's Chinese New Year celebration and the launch of the Malaysia Maritime Single Window (MMSW) on Monday (Feb 17), Transport Minister Anthony Loke assured that the upgrade would not incur additional costs, require extra government funding, or increase the overall cost of the ECRL project.
