Asian Winter Games come to a close with colorful closing ceremony
The ninth Asian Winter Games officially ended with the cauldron being extinguished at the closing ceremony in Harbin on Feb. 14, 2025. Athletes took part in the parade of nations as they bid farewell to cheering crowds gathered for the closing event which also featured musical and dance performances. Hosts China dominated the final medal count with 85 total medals, including 32 golds. South Korea came in second with 16 gold medals adding to a haul of 45 medals. Japan placed third with 37 medals, ten of which were golds. Kazakhstan also had a good showing with four gold medals and 20 medals overall. The Philippines and Uzbekistan were tied in fifth place with each snagging a single gold medal. The Asian Games flag was lowered and officially passed on to Neom. The Saudi Arabian city will host the next Asian Winter Games in 2029.
