Google has removed references to the start of Black History Month, Women’s History Month, and other cultural observances from its online and mobile calendars. Google has scrapped its diversity hiring goals, joining other tech companies in adjusting hiring and promotion policies after President Donald Trump’s election. Trump’s administration ended federal DEI programs and placed officials overseeing them on leave through an executive order in January. Google switched to displaying only public holidays and national observances in 2024 from timeanddate.com.
