A family in Darlington faces a £10,000 vet bill to save their Chow Chow, Charlie, after he was dragged 100 feet by a hit-and-run driver.

The three-year-old dog suffered severe road burns and may need a skin graft. Owner Zoe Edwards, 44, had recently cancelled pet insurance, leaving them struggling to cover costs.

They have raised over £1,700 on GoFundMe but fear they may have to put Charlie down. Durham Police are investigating the incident, which involved a yellow Ford that failed to stop.
