CSXT empty hoppers

2009-05-24 55

An empty hopper train heads west and slams over the crossover switch at Lightfoot. An ex-Conrail SD70MAC and a CW40-8 are the power for this train. The lead unit has a really nice higher-pitched K5LAR24 horn which gives away that it's an EMD unit.

The westbound trains here go faster than the eastbound trains here. The eastbounds slow down because they're coming into Williamsburg. The westbounds are leaving Williamsburg, so they can go up to 40 miles per hour. Most of the eastbounds go about 25 miles per hour I guess.
