A village in Leicestershire, England has been overrun by tens of thousands of starlings, covering homes and cars in droppings.

Residents of Rearsby have been left frustrated by the daily mess since the birds arrived two weeks ago.

While initially mesmerised by the swirling murmurations, locals now compare the scene to Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds.

Some villagers carry umbrellas to avoid the "bombardment," while others cover their cars at night. Wildlife experts say such a large gathering in the area is a rare event.
