2025-02-09 147

Bappurian theyyam which is locally known as Mappila theyyam. Mappila is the term referring to Muslim. Bappurian Theyyam is a blend of Hindu Muslim faith and traditions which embodies the harmonious co existence of these communities. The temple is open to all, religion, caste and no bar. Though Theyyam is God, he is a friend to all. He is not the kind of God scaring devotees, demanding complete devotion. Instead, Theyyam listens to people giving a therapeutic impact. The person who performs Theyyam is an ordinary local man who is known to everyone. Theyyam keeps an equal footing with people instead of dominating them.
