Is Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh involved in the violence?
A two-judge bench of the Supreme Court on Tuesday said it will wait for the report of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) to ascertain the involvement of Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh in the massacre in the northeastern state.
The Kuki Organisation for Human Trust, an organisation of the Kuki tribe, has claimed in the Supreme Court that it has received a record of Biren Singh's "voice", which they have submitted to the Supreme Court.
Claiming that the voice was that of Biren Singh, the Kuki outfit said it proved that Biren Singh had "involvement" in the anti-Kuki terror activities that have sprung up in Manipur. ’
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Centre, told a bench of Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar that all voice samples handed over by the petitioner Kuki Organisation for Human Trust have been sent to the CFSL.
