Malaysia’s e-hailing industry has become a crucial part of urban mobility, with projected revenue reaching RM2.29 billion by the end of 2025.
As of January, there were approximately 2.9 million e-hailing drivers around Malaysia.
Additionally, the number of users in the e-hailing market is expected to reach 11.47 million by 2029.
However, recent discussions around setting a minimum fare floor for e-hailing services have sparked controversy and the issue of sustainability.
Wan Agyl Wan Hassan, Founder, MY Mobility Vision discusses how the floor price proposal to offer a fairer income for drivers can be better managed while preventing a rise in fares that could hurt the affordability of public transport alternatives for the Rakyat.
