At the start of Friday morning most of England and Wales will be overcast, with showers in the southeast of England, while in Scotland and Northern Ireland it will generally be a sunny start to the day. In the afternoon the showers advance further west while the cloud extends its reach to the north and west, covering parts of eastern Scotland and Northern Ireland, but in western Scotland many places will hold on to the sunshine in the afternoon.
