Multiple media outlets reported that President Trump fired at least twelve inspectors general from various federal agencies Friday night. The affected departments include Defense, State, Transportation, Veterans Affairs, HUD, and others. The Justice Department’s inspector general was reportedly spared. Michael Missal, the inspector general for Veterans Affairs, informed staff via email that he had been dismissed. The Washington Post was the first to report on the findings.
