The Department of Homeland Security announced that federal immigration authorities can now conduct enforcement operations in previously off-limits locations, including schools, churches, and courthouses. The policy change follows President Donald Trump’s revocation of a 2011 directive that prohibited Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection from targeting “sensitive” areas, such as schools, places of worship, hospitals, funerals, and public demonstrations.
