Lin-Manuel Miranda also tried to land a role in Wicked, making several calls to director Jon M. Chu for a small part.
Miranda, whom Chu worked with on In the Heights, wanted to play the Munchkinland citizen who asks Glinda, "Is it true you were her friend?"
However, Chu declined the request, feeling that a cameo from Miranda would be "too distracting," joking, "Sorry, Lin!"
