Understanding the Parts List in Civil 3D is essential for working with pipe networks, including storm, sanitary, and pressure systems. The Parts List defines the catalog of pipes, structures, fittings, and appurtenances available for use in a project, and it controls their sizes, styles, and labels.
What Is a Parts List?
A Parts List is a collection of pre-defined pipe and structure parts derived from a parts catalog. It organizes components into categories and provides control over their appearance, material, and dimensions. Parts Lists are specific to either:
Gravity Pipe Networks: For storm and sanitary systems.
Pressure Pipe Networks: For water and pressurized systems.
Accessing the Parts List
From Toolspace:
Open the Toolspace palette and go to the Settings tab.
Expand the Pipe Network or Pressure Network section.
Locate Parts Lists.
From the Ribbon:
Go to the Home tab > Create Design panel.
Select Pipe Network or Pressure Network > Parts List.
From the Prospector Tab:
Right-click on an existing pipe or pressure network and select Edit Network > Parts List.

Creating or Editing a Parts List
Open the Parts List Dialog:
Go to the Toolspace or Ribbon as described above.
Right-click on the desired network type and select Edit Parts List.

Add Parts: Click the Add Part Family button to include a new category (e.g., pipes or structures).
