Senior Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya lauded the October 7 attack on Israel as a significant achievement, claiming it would be remembered with pride by future generations of Palestinians. He referred to the recently announced ceasefire-hostage deal as a “historic moment.”
“Our people have thwarted the declared and hidden goals of the occupation. Today we prove that the occupation will never defeat our people and their resistance,” al-Hayya stated during a televised speech from Qatar.
He emphasized that, despite agreeing to the ceasefire, Hamas remains committed to its goal of Israel's destruction, with Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque as central to their mission.
