Starbucks announced Monday that it is reversing its open-door policy and now requires purchases to access store facilities. The updated code of conduct also prohibits discrimination, harassment, panhandling, outside alcohol, smoking, vaping, drug use, and disruptive behavior. Violators may be asked to leave, with law enforcement involved if necessary, and employees will receive training to enforce the policy. CEO Brian Niccol views the changes as part of an effort to revive Starbucks' community-focused atmosphere and address sales declines.
